Alagna
Valsesia, Monte Rosa - Italy
We
live and work out of one of Europe’s No. 1 adventure ski areas—Alagna
Valsesia, Monte Rosa. Little known to the general public, Alagna
has retained its century-old mountain village character. Only 100
kilometers north of Milan, Alagna is nestled at the foot of Europe’s
second-highest mountain, the Monte Rosa. With a population of 400,
only four Hotels, and limited après ski possibilities, Alagna has
so far been able to fend off the mass tourism which has tarnished
most of Europe’s other beautiful areas.
For
those who do not enjoy the crowds, ski at an advanced level and
love to ski big vertical in a truly alpine environment— Alagna is
the place. A gondola takes the skier from 4000 ft to over 11,000
ft, where the intermediate to advanced skier can drop down into
the Alagna and Gressoney valleys to take full advantage of the 180
km of interconnected groomed slopes of the Monte Rosa Ski area.
For
those who are interested in off-piste and backcountry skiing, the
Monte Rosa is heaven. A myriad of possible descents takes the backcountry
enthusiast over glaciers, through huge bowls and narrow, steep couloirs,
sometimes crossing the Swiss/Italian border twice in one day. The
terrain is intricate and here is where our local knowledge of the
area ensures our guests the safest and most pleasurable skiing experience
possible.
Alagna is also one of only two areas in Italy where well-managed
heli-ski operations are allowed. Heliskiing from the Lysjoch or
Signalkuppe at almost 15,000 ft down to Zermatt and lift-hopping
back to Alagna is most certainly a highlight of a ski vacation in
the area.
Whether a heliski enthusiast, off-piste lover, or just someone who
wants to develop their ski technique in an alpine setting, we can
customize your stay to fit your skill level, goals, and dreams.
All trips include basic avalanche awareness and hands on training
in the use of avalanche beacons. Advanced telemarkers are also
welcome to participate.

Dolomite
Ski-safari
(January/February)
Our
Dolomite Ski Adventure is for the intermediate and advanced skier
who would like to discover the Dolomites by way of the 1180 km of
interconnected groomed slopes of the Dolomites. Six days of lift
hopping with the occasional off-piste variation from the Sella Pass
to Corvara, Cortina, Arabba, Canazei and ending in San Martino take
us through the most beautiful and famous resort towns of the Dolomites.
This trip focuses on the downhill ski experience – a few short (1000ft.
vertical) climbs using skins are necessary in order to connect some
of the more remote valleys. One should be in reasonably good shape.
Staying in a different mountain village and inn each day gives us
the opportunity to explore and enjoy Italy’s famous cuisine and
wines during the evening.
